A walk on the wild side

Beatrice tells us about her visit to Rye Harbour village where she took a walk in the nature reserve and visited Camber Castle.
What did you do on your trip to village of Rye Harbour?
I parked in the large public car park which was near to the Martello Tower opposite the entrance to the nature reserve. I stopped off at Lyme Kiln Cottage the nature reserve's information centre and got some information leaflets including a nature reserve guide. I noted there were a couple of circular walks and picked the longer one, which I followed in the guide. The walk took in the old lifeboat station, Camber Castle and a bird watching hide. I saw lots of great birds and learnt lots about the history of the area, plus got some great exercise.
I had brought a picnic lunch which I ate on the walk so by the time I had got back to the Rye Harbour village I was ready for a cup of tea and a sit down. I found a delightful café called the Avocet Tearoom and Gallery and not only enjoyed excellent refreshment but also found a delightful small baby cardigan for my grandchild.
What time of year did you go?
late summer.
What did you like best about it, did everything go to plan? Especially include anything that was really memorable or quirky.
The landscape of the nature reserve was different and unusual and although I would normally choose wooded areas to walk in I appreciated the contrast and was able to learn a lot about all the wildlife.
